Practice Everywhere's 200 Hour Yoga Teacher training is an experiential learning course that is for anyone who is interested in deepening their own personal application of yoga in their everyday life and may hope to lead other people in vinyasa (flow-based) yoga group practices.

This training focuses on becoming a leader of group yoga classes to the general public. In addition to learning how to lead group classes in this training participants will be invited to go deep into the system of Yoga understanding its foundational practices and philosophies, and their application to  modern daily living.  The practice of yoga is also intended to be highly personal, and as such the training asks participants to consider Yoga's influence on their own lifestyle, habits, decision making, and psychology, as well as learn how to offer guidance that can be adaptable to students from different walks of life. 

Practice Everywhere's aim is respect of the origins of yoga, to uphold high standards of inclusivity and access, and to remain true to the belief that the lifestyle practices adopted and adapted from system of Yoga hold tremendous benefits for all people if those people have access to them.  We seek to do our part of increasing accessibility through diversity in training.

Trainers

Julia Lopez and Suzie Mills are the co-owners of Practice Everywhere and Practice Everywhere's sister company, Honest Soul Yoga.

Julia Lopez brings thousands of teaching hours both across the country and online reaching hundreds of thousands of students. No matter the venue all experience the same intention Julia has for each class - to invite people to fall in love with their innate beauty and potential. Julia holds several certifications in yoga, personal training, group fitness, and over 17 years of personal yoga study.

Suzie Mills is best known for her leadership as Honest Soul Yoga's Founder and CEO. Coming to the practice after serving her country with the US Air Force in Afghanistan, Suzie went on to share the physical and emotional transformation the practice provides through opening up a prominent group of yoga studios just outside Washington DC. Suzie brings humor, heart, and honest, real-life connection into every class, and asks those in her trainings to first explore deeply their own personal connection and intention before they raise their hand to lead. 

Under their collective guidance over 20 rounds of teacher training graduates have gone into the world ready to share their love of vinyasa yoga with others!

This training will also be led by a standout line-up of expert, compassionate, and professional yoga leaders who are making a difference in their community studios every day.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a desire to teach to take this training?

No! Plenty of trainees have worked with Julia, Suzie, and our guest facilitators without a desire to teach... or at least, at first. Most often we find that through training eventually trainees discover what sharing yoga means for them. That said, this training is and always has been through the lens of sharing yoga with others. And through that lens we formulate our personal work, and also decipher how/when/what to share!

What style of Yoga Asana will I learn to teach?

This training emphasizes a flowing style of yoga, sometimes referred to as vinyasa, and spends a majority of time examining yoga through the group class.  Our lead trainers roots are in Power Flow, but have expanded over the last decade their practice, teaching, and teacher education to include new innovative approaches to vinyasa, and draws from their collective experience in personal training, group fitness, yoga life coaching, and conscious-business ownership. As such this training also brings in electives that explore softer approaches to Power Flow, functional movement, slow flow, and quiet yoga. 

Do I need experience with Yoga to enroll?

Yes. We ask that everyone who enrolls have a regular yoga flow practice of at least1 year, and preferably 2. While some jump right in with less experience and do very well, it is recommended to have a couple years of regular practice before enrolling in a teacher training.

What certification will I earn through this training?

Upon successful completion of this training you will become a Certified Yoga Teacher (CYT) through Practice Everywhere. This training is also registered with Yoga Alliance if you choose to also choose to join YA as a Registered Yoga Teacher. Some states and employers may require additional credentialing and every individual is encouraged to do their own research regarding certification requirements. 

Is this training fully online?

Right now, due to our partner studios inability to have large gatherings, online trainings are going to be substituted for in-person trainings. After regular, full-scale business resumes at partnering studios, we will reevaluate online v. in-person studies.

Do I need to attend online sessions in person?

Yes. While some absences may occur, we ask participants to be live in the virtual classroom. Playbacks of previous lectures will be available for reference in the event of an absence. You are required to have 90% + in-person attendance to qualify for certification. 

What if I enrolled for an in-person training with Practice Everywhere?

Due to Covid19 you may forward your deposit for in-person training to this online training. If you are a currently enrolled with a deposit down for an upcoming in-person training email julia@practiceeverywhere.com with the name and email attached to your deposit, and the training that you signed up to attend. 

When will in-person training resume?

Due to the persistent nature of Covid19 and the fact that we have trainees that fly in to train with us from all over the country, Practic Everywhere's in-person 200 hour training is on a permanent hiatus and will be replaced by virtual classroom. Smaller mentorship retreats may resume as early as Spring 2021, but we are waiting until capacity restrictions go down across the entire country.
